Hillbillies & Vikings
This site is focused broadly on all descendants of John Denboe, an indentured servant who came to the Crown Colony of Maryland in about the year 1664. Also, it maintains a special emphasis on the descendants of John Denbow (1797-1862) and his brother Bazeleel (1795-1857), early pioneers in the hills of Southeastern Ohio, as well as the descendants of Jón Jónsson (1841-1934) of Dalasýsla, Iceland, who was an Icelandic immigrant to Canada and now has progeny throughout North America.

124 | attended Miami University in Oxford, Ohio from 1922 until 1927. His first year at Miami he lived with a boy from Bucyrus named Art Staley. After his first year he lived in the Phi Kappa Tau house. During this time he had to drop out of school for a semester because he had some type of eye problem and he was unable to see. Bob was a member of the Alpha Chapter of Phi Kappa Tau Fraternity at Miami. He and his brother, Shorty, were among the founding members of the Campus Owls, a dance band. The band played on campus and then during the summer vacations they traveled to dance pavilions in Ohio, Indiana and other states to play. One summer when the Owls didn't have a job, Bob played saxophone in a dance pavilion in the park outside of Bucyrus. We have severa lpictures of the band 'on tour' with the car loaded with suitcases and instruments. In 1994 this band was still in existence. Bob graduated from Miami in 1927 with an A.B. in Education. | Sharp, Robert Henderson (I3871)
