This site is focused broadly on all descendants of John Denboe, an indentured servant who came to the Crown Colony of Maryland in about the year 1664. Also, it maintains a special emphasis on the descendants of John Denbow (1797-1862) and his brother Bazeleel (1795-1857), early pioneers in the hills of Southeastern Ohio, as well as the descendants of Jón Jónsson (1841-1934) of Dalasýsla, Iceland, who was an Icelandic immigrant to Canada and now has progeny throughout North America.

Obituary of John H. Barton

John H. Barton

John H. Barton, 82 of 215 Midway Road, Mount Joy, went home to be with his Lord at the Essa Flory Hospice Center of Lancaster County on Thursday, August 23, 2007.  He was the devoted husband of Jean V. Saunders Barton to whom he was married 64 years.

John retired from Herr and Sacco Company of Landisville in December 1989, and spent most of his career in construction as a crane operator.  He was a member of Community Bible Church of Marietta, where he was active in Glad Tidings ABF and Philemon Men's Fellowship.  He was also a life member of the Pioneer Fire Company #1, Marietta.

Born in West Hempfield Twp. on September 1, 1924, he was the son of the late Harvey J., and Mary Mae Hause Barton.

He will be deeply missed by his wife Jean, and children Mary Jane Barton of Marietta; Harold J. (Donna) Barton of Rheems; Janet L., (James A.) Stuck of Manheim; Gloria J., (Barry E.) Foreman of Mount Joy; Robert L. (Lori) Barton of Statesville, North Carolina; and Beth A. (Brian) Gentry of Marietta.  He is survived by 12 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.  Also surviving are sisters Emma Lucas of Columbia; and Frances R. (James) Houseal of Maytown.  He was preceded in death by sons John R., Richard F. (Pete); sister Sarah (Mull) Miller; and brothers Charles, Harvey, Frank, Clarence and William.

A public viewing will be held from the Sheetz Funeral Home, Inc., 16 East Main St., Mount Joy, on Monday, August 27, 2007 from 9 to 11 AM.  

PLEASE NOTE: The Funeral Service will be private and held at the convenience of his family.  Private interment in Millersville Mennonite Cemetery. Please omit flowers.
