James Denbow |

- Several sources list his birth year as 1823; the official GravesRecord from the Adjutant General's office says 1827, which is mostassuredly wrong.

- He died of smallpox. The Pension Office ruled that his death was not "service related" because there was no smallpox in camp when he left for home. The family spent years appealing this denial, and there is a very large pension file at the National Archives. It's is unclear whether or not the denial was ever reversed. The last denial on record, though undated, appears to have been in 1899.

- This marriage date, which differs by exactly one year from the one recorded in the Marriage License book for Harford County appears to be correct. I suspect a clerical error in the book.
