Hillbillies & Vikings

This site is focused broadly on all descendants of John Denboe, an indentured servant who came to the Crown Colony of Maryland in about the year 1664. Also, it maintains a special emphasis on the descendants of John Denbow (1797-1862) and his brother Bazeleel (1795-1857), early pioneers in the hills of Southeastern Ohio, as well as the descendants of Jón Jónsson (1841-1934) of Dalasýsla, Iceland, who was an Icelandic immigrant to Canada and now has progeny throughout North America.

Notes of Carl E. Dibel included in a letter to Susan Sharp from Maurice J. Neverman dated October 24, 1994. "GREAT GRANDPARENTS: Allbaugh, Solomon & Allbaugh, Rezia Sharp Luckey born 8-22-1818; died 12-28-1873. Only other information I have is they were from Athens County, Ohio, and possibly buried there. Great grandmother remarried after great grandfather's death to a man named Tom Luckey. GRANDPARENTS: Albaugh, Morris Benjamin, born 8-10-1863; died 6-20-1929 & Allbaugh, Mary Virginia Butcher, born 9-15-1853; died 2-5-1886. Children: Laura, Grace Verdelia, Faith Jane, Walter Allen (my father). GRANDPARENTS: ALLbaugh, Morris Benjamin (remarried) born, 8-10-1863; died 6-20-1929 & Allbaugh, Catherine Ellen McDonald, born 1886; died 11-26-1929. Children: Wm. Soloman, Mable, Mary. Morris H., Lewis Benjamin. (Check original letter for birth and death dates of children.) Grandfather remarried after grandmother's death. Grandmother Mary was also called Jennie. Morris and Mary moved to Iowa, Taylor County, Platte Township from Ohio (possibly Athens County) somewhere around 1875 since their children were born in Iowa. The birthplaces of Morris' parents were listed as Ohio and Maryland and Mary's parents were from Ohio. Grandfather's second wife was from Washington, Iowa."
