Imogene Challans Denbow, 75, of Pana, died Monday, November 12, 2007 in the Pana Community Hospital. She was born December 8, 1931 in Carrollton, Illinois, the daughter of Harold C. and Rhea T. Chapman Carter. Imogene was a graduate of Carlinville High School and lived most of her life in Pana. She worked as a licensed medical recorder at Pana Community Hospital and St. Mary's Hospital, Decatur, as well as a a CNA at Heritage Manor—Pana. Imogene was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church, Tower Hill. She married Kenneth H. Challans on February 26, 1949 in Carlinville, IL. He passed away on June 14, 2001. She married Robert S. Denbow on January 21, 1995 in Pana, IL.
Imogene is survived by her husband: Robert S. Denbow, Pana, IL; children: Richard H. Challans & wife Jolayne, Ramsey, IL; James P. Challans, Pana, IL; & Marla G. Leigh, Pana, IL; step children: Danny Lee Denbow & wife Ann, Waynesville, MO; Bonnie Lou Miller & husband David, Pana, IL; & Robert Frank Denbow & wife Cheryl, Findlay, IL; 9 Grandchildren: Colleen Halford & husband Aaron; David S. Challans & wife Patsey; Shelly Challans; Jamie R. Challans & companion Mandy; Jared K. Challans; Kena McGlaughlen & husband Brian; Jennifer Bowman; Stephine Leigh; & Jacob Steck; 10 Great Grandchildren: Ashley & Luke Halford; Samantha, Alyssa, Meloney Challans; Sierra Challans; Matthew Passoni; and Dalton, Brayden, & Madison McGlaughlen; 6 Step Grandchildren: Beth Denbow; Janet Denbow; James Denbow & wife Melissa; Charyl Pingleton & husband Tracy; Kimberly Westenhaver & husband Mark; and Jerline Denbow; 6 Step Great Grandchildren: Kimberly Denbow, David Denbow, Anna Pingleton, Michael Pingleton, Jacob Westenhaver & Justin Westenhaver; and brother: Karl F. Carter, Carlinville, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, David Challans; sister, Virginia Joyce Koester; & brothers: Cleburn, Lawrence, Wayne, & Lowell Carter.
There will be no visitation. Graveside services will be Wednesday, November 14, 2007 in Mayfield Memorial Park Cemetery, Carlinville, IL at 3:00 p.m. with Rev. Don Pease officiating. Family and friends are invited to attend the Sunday, November 18, 2007 service at 10:30 a.m. in New Hope Baptist Church in Tower Hill for a service of remembrance for Imogene Challans Denbow.
