Hillbillies & Vikings

This site is focused broadly on all descendants of John Denboe, an indentured servant who came to the Crown Colony of Maryland in about the year 1664. Also, it maintains a special emphasis on the descendants of John Denbow (1797-1862) and his brother Bazeleel (1795-1857), early pioneers in the hills of Southeastern Ohio, as well as the descendants of Jón Jónsson (1841-1934) of Dalasýsla, Iceland, who was an Icelandic immigrant to Canada and now has progeny throughout North America.

Obituary: Newpaper clipping in the possession of Jean Reid Edwards.  Date and name of paper are cut off. 

MRS. VIRGINIA K. REID      

Mrs.Virginia K. Reid, a former resident of Punxsutawney and Reynoldsville, died in Sharon Sunday at the age of 68.      

Born September 24, 1900, in Harmony, she was the daughter of Anthony and Ida Craft Kellert.  She was married to Alexander Reid.  She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star in Punxsutawney and the United Methodist Church in Reynoldsville. She had resided in Sharon the past year. Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Jean Edwards, of Sharon; Mrs. Marsha Etherson, of St. Marys;  Mrs. Myrtle Parsons, of Morgantown, West Virginia; Mrs. Mabel McLaughlin, of Punxsutawney; and two sons, Samuel of Youngstown, Ohio; and William of Niles, Ohio.   Surviving also are six grandchildren and two sisters, Mrs. Pauline McDonald of Falls Creek, and Mrs. Daisy Smith of Punxsutawney.  Funeral arrangements, under the direction of the Ober Funeral Home in Reynoldsville, are incomplete.  

Friends will be received there after 7 o'clock tomorrow night.  

Services were held at the H. Laird Ober Funeral Home in  Reynoldsville, Pennsylvania on Wednesday, at 2:30 P.M. The Reverend Keith M. Dovenspike officiated.  Burial was in Circle Hill Cemetery, Punxsutawney, Pa.
