Hillbillies & Vikings
This site is focused broadly on all descendants of John Denboe, an indentured servant who came to the Crown Colony of Maryland in about the year 1664. Also, it maintains a special emphasis on the descendants of John Denbow (1797-1862) and his brother Bazeleel (1795-1857), early pioneers in the hills of Southeastern Ohio, as well as the descendants of Jón Jónsson (1841-1934) of Dalasýsla, Iceland, who was an Icelandic immigrant to Canada and now has progeny throughout North America.

Obituary: Newspaper clipping from Jean Reid Edwards. Name of paperand date cut off clipping. SERVICES TODAY FOR ROSELLA R. HASTINGS. Mrs. Rosella Hastings, a native of Punxsutawney, died Saturday at her home in Cumberland, Maryland, at the age of 48 years. Born September 6, 1912, in this city, a daughter of Alex and Mary Elizabeth Hunter Reid, she was married June 24, 1936 to Thomas Hastings also of Punxsutawney. The Hastings left this city 25 years ago and resided for many years in Cleveland. Mrs. Hastings was a member of the Presbyterian Church. Surviving in addition to her husband, is a daughter, Holly, at home; her step-mother, Mrs. Virginia Reid of Reynoldsville, and four sisters and two brothers, Mrs. C. B. McLaughlin of Punxsutawney; Mrs. Charles Parsons, of Morgantown, West Virginia; Mrs. Arthur Edwards, of Reynoldsville; Mrs. Francis Etherson, of St. Marys; William Reid, of Niles, Ohio; and Samuel Reid, of Youngstown. Funeral services will be held this afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Schenkemeyer Funeral Home here. Rev. George C. Culpwill officiate and interment will be in Circle Hill Cemetery.
